Looking over this past week, I’ve realized how much of a routine and isolation I was from the rest of the world. I didn’t fully realize until mid-week when I left my daily routine and was placed in another environment that was outside of my daily environment and routine.
I learned that you’re not really fully delivered from something until you can go back to the old place and reject the exact thing God delivered you from. For example, if you say you don’t drink anymore you should be able to go to a bar and not get a drink. Or if you say you don’t smoke anymore you should not want to smoke just because people around you are smoking.
Of course you would rather stay away from those kind of environments but eventually as you grow closer to God sometimes God will send us back to those exact same environments to go pull somebody else out. So do not be so quick to place judgment on people and places just because you’re not at that place anymore. We all have a past and we all are working out our own salvation daily.
So it’s important that you do not ruin your witness when he does send you back. You have to remain the light in the dark places. Not just in church but living it out in your day to day life and interactions. Always showing the love of God no matter the crowd or your environment. Your environment should not dictate how you react or respond you should reach a level of consistency with how you respond in certain situations as you grow and mature with your walk with God.
I knew I matured in my walk when I could go back to those same environments that I left and not be tempted any longer by those same things that were hindering me from moving forward. At some point we want to start passing those test so God can continue to elevate us to the next level.
Here are three tips to know that you are growing in your walk:
You don’t have the desire to do those things that God delivered you from any longer.
Your more aware and in tuned with yourself, other people, and certain environments. (Ex: Have you ever walked into a place and felt like what am I doing here and just walked backed out?)
You do not frown upon people who may be facing the same struggles as you once did instead you uplift them by sharing your story and how God brought you out of the same thing there going through.
